What makes a "membership-only pack" better than a regular dog daycare?
Traditional daycares accept random, rotating drop-ins, which creates a high-stress environment and increases the risk of fights or disease. Our closed membership pack means your dog plays with the exact same, fully vetted dog friends every single week. This consistency creates a calm, predictable, and incredibly safe social dynamic.
What certifications do you hold?
I hold formal certifications in Dog Obedience, Behaviour Modification, and Canine Trauma, alongside being fully certified in Canine CPR and Pet First Aid. I also have 21 years experience. This specialized background allows me to read subtle canine body language, prevent conflicts before they start, and safely manage unique behavioral needs.
How do I know my dog will be safe in a home-based environment?
Our facility is heavily fortified for safety. The yard features 6-foot secure privacy fencing with dig-guards to prevent escape, plus double-gated safety airlocks at all exit points including security cameras. Because I operate entirely solo, your dog is under 100% active, expert supervision by a certified professional with 21 years of experience—never left alone or monitored by untrained staff.
Q: What makes the Puphaus Daycare stand out from the rest?
The PupHaus is not your typical daycare. We’re a cozy, cage-free, home-based haven where your dog can truly thrive. With a max of just 15 dogs a day, we give each pup the love and attention they deserve. Plus, with Mimi—our certified dog behaviourist and trainer—leading the pack, your furry friend is in the best hands. It’s like a second home, but with more tail wags!
Do you have an intake or assessment process?
Yes, most Surrey daycare's require a temperament evaluation or "meet and greet" to ensure your dog is a good fit for group play, and in our case, the pack.
How can my dog join this pack doggy daycare?
Joining our pack is easy! Just fill out our membership form so we can get to know your dog better. Once vetted and approved, your pup is all set to become a member and part of our pack.
Do I need to book in advance?
As a PM member your package is booked in advance and your spot is guaranteed. We do offer some flexibility, as we understand that life happens. Our Bark card package is not guaranteed however, so advance booking is recommended. And depending on the dog, we can go over our numbers, as it is up to the pack leader to set her own numbers. She has wrangled a pack of 30+ dogs on her own in the past, so she is more than capable.
Do you accept all breeds?
While many say yes, others have restrictions. Some focus on smaller groups, emphasizing quality over quantity. We focus on size and accept dogs under 75 lbs. We have breed restrictions for security dogs or any bully breed, backyard dogs, and any dog weighing over 75 lbs. Our dogs need some training and must be a friendly family pet.
Do you accept aggressive or reactive dogs?
While I am certified in Behaviour Modification and Trauma, our daycare pack requires a baseline of social safety. We do not accept dogs with a history of severe unprovoked aggression toward humans or other dogs. However, we do accept dogs that are shy, anxious, or need a structured environment to build confidence, provided they pass our rigorous behavioral assessment.
Drop-off and Pick-up Policies:
Our open drop-off is between 6am and 10am. Our dogs nap from 11 to 1pm, so no interruptions, please. Pickup starts at 2pm until closing at 7pm. We keep these strict hours to comply with city bylaw noise laws. Constant barking cannot occur. Barking is a sign of stress and excitement. Keeping the pack calm and the energy good, the pack will only bark at pickup time or the odd bird or squirrel. Most of our neighbours don't even know there is a daycare on the block. Some neighbour dogs make more noise than our pack. That's why in 21 years we have not had complaint that was accepted by the city, and we have only had 2 visits from the city in all these years.
What health and safety measures do you have in place?
We require all dogs to be up-to-date on vaccinations and maintain strict hygiene protocols. Our facility is equipped with air purifiers and air conditioning to ensure a clean and comfortable environment for your furry friends.
What vaccinations are required?
Proof of up-to-date vaccinations is required, typically including Rabies, DHPP (Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus), and Bordetella.
Are you certified in Pet First Aid?
Yes, our Packleader is certified in Pet First Aid to handle emergencies, such as a dog eating an unknown substance or getting injured.
What if my dog gets sick or injured?
A reputable daycare will have protocols to contact you immediately and take your dog to a vet if necessary. Our pack leader has Pet First Aid and stocked first aid kit. She has operated her daycare for 21 years and in all that time has never had an incident that needed immediate treatment, that she couldn't handle. Dogs are not looking to fight each other. And our breed restriction ensures we have safe space for the dogs to play.
Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?
Many facilities require dogs over 7–8 months to be fixed to manage group dynamics. As for our daycare, we can allow for longer wait times depending on the dog and their behaviour within the pack. So in some cases we put it off for a good year or more, which is beneficial for the dogs development.
Will my dog spend the day in a kennel?
Nope! At our daycare, it’s all about open spaces and happy faces (or wagging tails). We’re 100% kennel-free, so your dog can play, nap, and even share a cozy pet bed with their buddies. Puppies get a little private time for lunch, but otherwise, it’s all about freedom and fun—with a side of sun-dried sardine treats, of course!
How do you group the dogs at daycare?
Unlike most daycares that separate dogs by size or energy, we believe in the power of the pack! With a calm, assertive leader (that’s us!) and proper supervision, dogs of all sizes and temperaments can play, wrestle, and frolic together. Here, size doesn’t matter—only energy and play style do. It’s all about trust, fun, and a little bit of doggy magic!
Are there cameras?
Some facilities have security systems and cameras, but may not provide live feeds to owners. We have security cameras, but no live feed as this is our home too. We do provide plenty of social media pics and videos for your enjoyment, and you do have access to see the pack in action each day you pickup and drop off. We don't hide our pack in the back.
What are your hours?
Our hours are 6am to 7pm weekdays and Saturdays by appointment only. Members do have access to weekend care, so no new dogs on weekends. Depending on the pack, they might go on an outing to a park or the beach.
Why does my dog pee/poo when they get home?
Our pack has access to outside all day. We poop scoop in the morning and in the early afternoon after nap time. The dogs that need a piddle on the way out probably held on to it because of FOMO.
What makes your facility special for dogs?
Our daycare is a doggy paradise! With a 3,000 sq. ft. fenced backyard featuring pet pro turf (goodbye, mud!) and a 400 sq. ft. covered deck, your pup can play rain or shine. On hot days, they can chill in our cozy cottage with A/C and air purifiers. Add in toys, chew bones, play structures, and even giant Collie balls—it’s a tail-wagging dream come true!
What should I bring for daycare or boarding?
Honestly, not a giant overnight bag. Bring your dog on leash, their food if they’re staying with us, and anything they truly need to feel comfortable, like medication or a familiar blanket. We’ve got the rest covered — bed, play space, cuddles, and the kind of care that keeps tails wagging.
