The Puppy Head-Start Program

5 Days to a Mannerly, Potty-Trained Pup

Skip the puppy exhaustion. Let a 21-year pro handle the hardest week.

Bringing home a young puppy is exciting, but constant potty accidents, crate crying, and relentless nipping can quickly become overwhelming—especially if you have to work.

Our Puppy Head-Start Week is an intensive, 5-day daytime program designed to build an immediate foundation for puppies aged 8 to 16 weeks. Drop your puppy off on your morning commute, and let us handle the exhausting hourly work of early development.

Week 1 is all about teaching your puppy what to do. It establishes basic mechanics and potty habits, establishes a great foundation and introduces your puppy to the basics of good manners.  Young brains learn best through repetition. We highly recommend adding a second week to help solidify their potty training and prevent early regression, ensuring these good habits truly stick."

Week 2 allows us to practice those skills around real-world distractions. Adding a second week is the best way to transition your puppy from learning commands at home to actually listening when it counts. Drop your puppy off on your morning commute, and let us handle the exhausting hourly work of early development, so you can do the work you need to do. If you pup receives their second round of shots before the start of this week, they can join the daycare pack for socializing is short doses, which is an added bonus.

We highly recommend adding a second week to help solidify their potty training and prevent early regression, ensuring these good habits truly stick. Our second-week program acts as a developmental bridge, giving your pup the extra practice needed to master bladder control and impulse control before they grow into their more independent phases.

What Your Puppy Learns In 1 Week

  • Accelerated Potty Training: Your puppy is placed on a rigorous, proactive bathroom schedule every 45–60 minutes, drastically accelerating housebreaking and preventing accident habits.

  • Crate Confidence & Independence: We teach your puppy that the crate is a safe, rewarding place to rest, preventing early separation anxiety and promoting quiet nap times.

  • Household Boundaries: We immediately introduce basic manners, focusing on anti-jumping protocols, impulse control around food, and discouraging mouthy/biting behavior.

  • Leash Foundations: Gentle, positive introduction to wearing a collar/harness and following a loose leash without pulling or resisting.

Monday Morning Checklist

To ensure the safety, health, and comfort of all puppies in our care, please review our intake requirements. On your puppy's first Monday morning drop-off, please bring the following items packed in a dedicated tote bag:

1. Health & Vaccine Requirements

Your puppy’s safety is our absolute priority. Because young puppies are still building immunity, we strictly require:

  • Up-to-Date Vaccine Records: Digital or printed proof of their first round of core vaccines (including DHPP/DA2PP).

  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough): Administered at least 7 days prior to their first day.

  • Veterinary Clearance: A quick confirmation from your vet that the puppy is free of internal and external parasites. Let Vet know the puppy will not be exposed to other dogs while here for the week, unless second set of shots have been administered. This is for the safety of the puppy and the pack that is all up to date and healthy. But safety comes first.

2. Daily Nutrition (Your Puppy's Food)

Puppy bellies are incredibly sensitive. To avoid any digestive upset, we maintain their exact home diet.

  • Pre-Portioned Meals: Please bring enough kibble or raw food for lunch (and breakfast if they eat late).

  • Labelled Containers: Place food in airtight bags or containers clearly labelled with your puppy’s name and specific feeding amounts.

  • High-Value Training Treats: If your puppy has a favourite soft treat or a specific dietary restriction, please include a small bag. (Otherwise, healthy, age-appropriate training treats are provided).

3. Comfort & Gear

  • A Standard Flat Collar or Harness: No slip leads, choke chains, or prong collars.

  • Puppy's crate for consistency and comfort

  • A 4ft to 6ft Standard Nylon Leash: Please do not bring retractable or bungee leashes.

  • An Item that Smells Like Home: A small blanket, an old t-shirt, or a safe plush toy that smells like your home to help comfort them during scheduled crate nap times.
