A quote from our best Pack Leader, Cesar Millan,

“With every trainer, as with every tool, you need to find the professional who fits your philosophy and values. And you should first have a conversation with him or her about views and methods before trying the trainer on your dog.
Trust me – there are enough viewpoints, methods, and philosophies out
there for you to find one that you feel right about in your heart…”

Are you ready to learn?

Communication is the first step in training a dog, and training can’t be done without first learning how to communicate with your dog. So in essence, we are the ones getting the training, by learning to speak dog. This becomes our language,  so to speak, and it’s not just words, but our body language, facial expression and sounds as well. So now that the dog understands our way of communicating with them, training will be a breeze. This also helps us understand the dog and what he is trying to communicate to us. By knowing how to read his body language and his different barks, we can predict his behavior. It can’t get any better than that!

~With proper training, MAN can be
dogs best friend~

When should I start training my dog?

Many new dog owners today realize that this is the time to start molding & shaping the behavior that you want. Puppies are just like a sponge…and they just absorb everything they smell, hear or see. So this is a perfect time to show them how to fit in. It’s a monkey see…monkey do thing. They love to be with you, as they are social creatures, and it is important that good habits are set early on, before he gets his own ideas.

Show your puppy from the start the behavior that is expected through fun little games. Most behavioral problems in adult dogs could have been prevented in puppy-hood through proper socializing. Training with a calm and assertive energy, with consistent borders and limitation, will show your dog who the pack leader is from the start. It’s an investment in your future, as your dog will be with you for close to 10-15 years, or longer.

The old style training with choke collars and rough handling is not too popular in training today and what I have learned working with large groups of dogs is, you really don’t need to say anything.  Body language and energy can do it all, and without any pain or yelling.  We all know the last thing you want to do is cause your dog any pain or tune you out. By using our technique, you will have your dog watching and following you in no time at all.

Finding an Obedience class where the trainer doesn’t use extreme force, or one that isn’t going to cause fear or anxiety in your dog is very important. Also one that believes in calm assertive energy is going to be able to communicate with the dog so much better and in a positive way.

Why I became an obedience trainer

I wanted to learn how to show a dog in the ring and also teach obedience. I was trained by a professional master trainer and behaviorist who was still using old style training. I have many, many years experience with dogs and have had a very successful dog daycare for the last 8 years,  so  I  took what I learned three years ago, and developed my own style of calm and assertive dog training.

Canada’s School for Pack Leaders!

We have up to a max of 15 dogs a day in our daycare and Michelle and Gabriella are the handlers of our pack. Gabriella also has years of experience in the daycare, and is now learning Obedience training and behavioral training as well. Our training includes daycare, one-on-one sessions, visits to off leash parks etc…
Dog training is very personal and based on environment, lifestyle and choice, but given the right tools, and also when taught how to control the dog with the right energy and intention, anyone can become a Pack leader.
We recommend an interview to discuss the different training styles.

PACK LEADER For the Older Dog

~When the dog you thought you knew starts behaving badly!~

In the privacy of your own home and out at the park. Geared towards behavioral issues rather than basic training.

Have you ever uttered these words…“Whatever happened to the dog? It used to be such a little angel?? Your dog’s age approaches two years old and he’s getting more daring and disobedient. He’s pushing boundaries and limitations, with quick escapes out the front door or car, when given the opportunity. He’s lunging at strangers and barking up a storm. Many dog owners find their easy going puppy is long gone…and a monster has moved in. Yikes…

This is a very common problem for dog owners. And quickly approaching the age of two, the dog is feeling like a know it all, and it’s all about him or her…and so on, and so forth. You missed your chance at forming consistent good behavior early on by setting boundaries, and now the dog has grown up to believe that it can go and do what ever it wants. He’s in charge! Well that is just a recipe for disaster! Many poor dogs now in shelters were never given the right direction when young, and the end result is not one we like to think about.

Some common problems that come up are;

  • Pulling and yanking on the leash.
  • Not coming when recalled.
  • Mild to serious aggressive behavior towards strangers or strange dogs while on leash.
  • The previously quiet puppy is now barking aggressively at all new dogs or people he sees.
  • Jumping up on people entering the house or barking aggressively at new people entering the house.
  • Disruptive or destructive behavior either inside the house or outside in the garden (digging).

You might even have taken the brave steps to adopt a rescue dog, and not know what you are up against. What ever his upbringing was, it surely shaped who he has become. Now with training and communication, you can finally start a new life with your new found friend.

This includes a behavioral profile following the session, and unlimited phone follow-up.
